Rhine-Wing
Maßstab 1:200, Zeichnung: B. Grabowska, Lorenz Frank Zeichnung: Lorenz Frank

The exterior view of the wall of the castle facing the Rhine. The meticulous incorporation of the holes, which stem from the wood scaffolding used in the middle ages, and the integration of the building joints can clearly be seen in the drawing. The architectural developmental history of this structure becomes evident through this drawing.

In this innovative perspective of the wall of the castle, each period of construction is marked using a different colour.

Dungeon for the Keep
To be seen in this short film (46 sec) is the 7m deep dungeon of the Keep. One can see how Menno Mennenga is being lowered into the dungeon through the “hole of fear”. His view through the hole and onto the walls of the sump underneath the dungeon.

These videos show the dungeon of the central keep. To view please download Player Apple Quicktime.

In the south eastern corner of the conference hall the 28cm wide and 5cm thick floor boards made from oak are distinctly visible, even though the floor paving had not been removed.

Clearly visible in the drawing of the eastern part of the Great Hall are the preserved hallways and the noticeable building joints.
